Jakarta Contributes to Reducing CO2 Emissions to 118.54 Tons

The simultaneous blackout carried out in Jakarta while commemorating World Environment Day, Saturday (6/5) has contributed to a reduction in CO2 emissions of 118.54 tons, which is increasing compared to the previous power outage of 29.9 tons.

This number increased compared to April 24 with electricity savings of 42 Megawatts or equivalent to Rp 46 million

Jakarta Environmental Agency Acting Head, Syaripudin said there was also savings of up to 165 Megawatts or equivalent to Rp 181.4 million.

He explained the commemoration of World Environment Day in Jakarta was closed with a ceremonial blackout of the seven Jakarta icons as part of the energy saving campaign on Environment Day.

Those seven icons were Jakarta City Hall, National Monument (Monas) and its fountain, Arjuna Wiwaha Statue and its fountain, HI Roundabout and its fountain, Pemuda Statue and its fountain, the Statue of Hero, and Jenderal Sudirman Statue.

"It is one of the concrete actions to save energy on Environment Day," he stated.
